Founded in 1972, SOS Sanothimi is the original SOS Children's Village in Nepal. It is in the western outskirts of the Bhaktapur district and the outskirts of Kathmandu. There are 160 children living in 16 family homes in the village of Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
One of the support services for SOS Children's Village Nepal is SOS Hermann Gmeiner School-Bhaktapur, which is also the first SOS Hermann Gmeiner School to be established in Nepal. It bears the name of Prof. Hermann Gmeiner, the man responsible for establishing SOS Children's Village International.

For the admissions process, students must provide the following documents:

• A duplicate of the birth certificate (for Nursery only).

Admission Criteria and Policy
Children from marginalized communities, students from households below the poverty line, graduates from government schools, people with disabilities, and residents of local communities, particularly those who live in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, are all encouraged to apply for admission.
Admission is granted without regard to a person's race, religion, caste, place of birth, or other factors.
Aspiring pupils and worried parents are required to finish all processes within the allotted period.
Scholorships in SOS college
Full and partial scholarships are typically given out based on need rather than merit. Priority is given to children who have lost or are about to lose parental care, children whose parents are severely ill and the family is facing enormous financial burdens, and children from households that are academically strong but live below the poverty line.
Students must provide valid documentation and an entrance application in order to be considered for a scholarship.
Uniform
During school hours, all pupils are required to wear the school uniform. For the pupils, the following uniform is required:
- navy blue pants
- T-shirts in sky blue
- blazer/sweater in navy (V-neck)
- shoes in black leather
- shocks in blue
- house attire, a suit (Tuesday & Friday)
- Tie-belt supplied by the institution
